Urgent Prayers Needed for Sudan

An urgent need for prayer for peace in Sudan this Christmas: Bill Andress from Trinity Presbytery and the Sudan Advocacy Action Forum sent this message regarding the imminent danger of a tribal attach on the people in Pibor, the community in which Rev John Tubuwa lives.

“At 4:00 am, our partner and my dear friend,  Rev. Orozu Lokine Daky called me from Pibor.  Murle who have fled Lekwangole said that the Nuer have attacked Lekwangole and are en route to Pibor in very large numbers.  People were seeking refuge in Pibor  in large numbers; however the SPLA stationed at Pibor were remaining in their barracks.  MSF and other NGOs have evacuated.  Orozu is unable to flee because he brought two of his small children with him to experience Christmas in Pibor.  I have not called him to follow up because, if he is hiding, I am afraid that the ringing phone might reveal his location.

About two weeks ago when we learned that this was about to happen, I did everything that I know to do to halt it.  Please join me in earnest prayer to seek God’s intervention…may He turn back the Nuer…may He be with Orozu, his family, Rev. John Tubuwa, Sulafa, and all those under attack…may He comfort them when they fear for their own lives and those of their loved ones.  May the UNMIS and SPLA intervene to stop the bloodshed.  Please God turn the hearts of those who continually initiate the senseless tribal slaughter.”

Pray please,
