Sermon:           “Real Power”

Theme:            It is by aligning our hearts with God that we have real power and the ability to overcome the injustices and obstacles of the world.

Purpose:          To reaffirm our need to draw strength from experiencing the knowledge of God.

Scriptures:       Psalm 77  The might and power of God, meditating on the strength and might that is with God.

Mark 11:20-25  Lesson of the withered fig tree, the power of prayer and forgiveness.

Questions:

What are the things that we perceive as being powerful or influential? How are we impressed by things that are destructive versus things that create or produce? What does it mean to produce fruit? What is the fruit that Jesus wants to see within us? How are we to understand that Jesus does not value what is unfruitful? How does our perceptions about what is important and what is meaningless affect our anxiety and worry? How is it that we are made unfruitful by our focus upon things that do not matter?
