Sermon:           “When We Need Help”

Theme:            Salvation means that we are not able to be healthy on our own or without shared faith with people with whom we can build fellowship.

Purpose:          We will examine what we need in relationships.

Scriptures:       Psalm 42          Longing for God in the midst of deep depression and distress.

Matthew 9:2-8            Jesus heals the paralytic man lowered from the ceiling.

Questions:

How do loss and depression affect our relationship with God? In what ways can our powerlessness and grief enable us to grow closer to God? How do we draw strength and direction from others when we are experiencing despair and hopelessness? What impact does it have on others to be supportive and present with someone going through grief, sadness, and depression? How does supporting one another through times of personal crises affect the fellowship of people in the Church? What do we need to do in order to be able to be present with one another in those times?
