Sermon: God’s Way, Not Ours
Theme: We will recognize the wisdom of seeking God’s work rather than being enmeshed in our own plans and worries.
Purpose: We will seek to set aside our expectations and embrace God’s plans.
Scriptures: Proverbs 9:1-12 Wisdom’s feast, and instructions about the wisdom and fear of the Lord.
2 Peter 3:8-13 For the Lord one day is like a thousand years, God is working that all can come to repentance and renewal.
What does it mean to us that for the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years a day? How do we understand God’s time to be a sign of grace rather than something for which we should be frustrated? How do we find wisdom to live in faithfulness rather than in our own arrogance and frustration? What keeps us from being able to live in the wisdom of God? What does it mean that God is making a new heaven and a new earth? What is our part in that transformation?
