Sermon: “Grieving with Hope”

Theme: Through Christ we entrust our experiences of loss and sadness in order to be renewed and strengthened to grow in love and joy.

Purpose: We will learn to practice healthy grief and mourning.

Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 We do not grieve as those who have no hope.

Matthew 25:1-13 The parable of the wise and foolish bridesmaids.

Questions:
What is the “oil” that we need in order to be faithful? How do we keep our supply of oil and light replenished, especially through the long difficult night times? What do wise Christians do that keeps them focused on the coming of the “bridegroom?” How do the foolish become distracted and asleep? What does it mean to grieve as those who have hope? How is it
comforting to know that we are part of relationships which do not end at death? How do we continue our relationships with those who have passed?
