Sermon: “Christ is Coming”

Theme: We live in the expectation of Christ’s reign of justice and reconciliation which will bring peace.

Purpose: We will examine what it means to anticipate Christ’s reign of peace.

Scriptures: Jeremiah 31:31-34 The days are coming when I will make a new covenant and write the law of God on their hearts.

Matthew 24:29-35 The coming of the Son of Man, the lesson of the Fig Tree.

Questions:
Is the appearance of the coming of the Son of Man something that we look forward to, or is it something that we should fear? What does it mean for us to have the Son of Man come to us in power? Why will all of the “Tribes on earth” mourn at the coming of Christ? In what ways is it good news and in what ways is this a warning? What does Jeremiah mean when he says that
God will “put the law within them and write it upon their hearts?” Is this something that will happen in the future or is this something that should be happening now?
