Sermon: “The Light Shines Out of Darkness”
Theme: We submit ourselves to the process of being transformed by the light by letting go of darkness within us.
Purpose: We will acknowledge and confess the darkness within us.
Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 It is the God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness” who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Mark 9:2-9 Jesus is transfigured before the disciples.
Questions: Why do we cling to assumptions and attitudes that lead us into greater fear, blame, and guilt? What do we believe about Jesus and our faith that is not rooted in the love of God? How do we let go of our thinking that causes us to see fault and sin in ourselves and others rather than God’s redeeming love? How do we revisit the gift of God’s grace and redemption in a way that will set us free to know real peace and joy?
