Sermon: The Power to Be Our True Selves
Theme: The gift of Christ coming is to free us from our despair and self-destructive egos to be transformed into the beloved children of God.
Purpose: We will learn to release our need for control and false expectations on our own spiritual growth.
Scriptures: Ephesians 1:3-14 Jesus was destined to bring us forgiveness, a plan for the fullness of time.
John 1:10-18 Jesus came into the world, The Word became flesh.
Questions: What does John mean when he says that Jesus birth gave us the “power to become the children of God?” What does it mean that “The Word became flesh and lived among us?” In what ways is the “Word made flesh” a model for our own transformation in Christ? How do we develop and grow as God’s “beloved?” How does our “inheritance towards redemption” become a part of our lives? How is our self-esteem and identity shaped by our knowledge of God?
