Salvation Army’s Back to School Supplies: The Salvation Army will be collecting School supplies on July 30th from 2- 6pm and on July 31st from 10- 2pm in the ShopKo parking lot for their “Fill the Bus” campaign. They will have a list of needed supplies at the bus and ShopKo will be giving a 10% discount on supplies bought in their store. Supplies can also be dropped off at the Army’s headquarters at any time. Distribution of the supplies will be on August 21st from 9- 1pm at MPTC and many volunteers will be needed at that time. I am sure the need is very great and our help would be very much appreciated.
Our next Blood Drive event is to be held Tuesday, July 13th in Fellowship Hall from 1 PM – 6 PM.
Our last Blood Drive Jan 6, 2010 resulted in 36 pints of blood going to the 50+ local hospitals served by the Blood Center of Wisconsin.
They provide blood to save the lives of friends, family members, and neighbors that need blood and we are glad to
be a collection center from time to time.
Our goal for this summer Blood Drive is 50 pints….and we know if all those who have given in the past, and a few first-timers, reserve this date
and make a point to get here on the 13th, we can do it.

As you are probably aware, George Weigel is scheduled to be admitted to Froedtert hospital on Wednesday, March 31st for his chemo and stem cell transplant. It is estimated that George will stay at Froedtert (inpatient) for a period of 3 to 4 weeks.
To assist Diane with visiting George, talking with doctors at Froedtert, etc we are coordinating a schedule for providing transportation for Diane from Fond du Lac to Froedert beginning March 31st through the month of April. We have created a calendar on Google Docs in which you can sign up if you are able to help provide transportation. To access the document, simply click on the link below. Then fill in your name and phone number on the day(s) that you are able to drive. As "your date" gets closer, Diane will contact you to coordinate specifics.
Please let me know if you have any questions / problems. If you know of someone who would be interested in driving, but who are not able to access this document online, please have them call either myself at 921.2259 or the church office at 922.0425, and we will add their name to the calendar. Also, please feel free to forward this to others who might be available to help.

Heaven on Earth An Agrarian Road Trip to the U.S. Social Forum June 13–26, 2010
Please share this information with individuals or groups you think may be interested, and please consider caravanning with us along the way! (flyer and application form attached)
You’re invited to the Presbyterian Hunger Program’s Heaven onEarth Agrarian Road Trip to the US Social Forum from June 13–26. Join this delegation of college students, farmers, musicians, bloggers and other adventurous souls. Starting in Louisville, Kentucky, we will make stops in six other states along the way to Detroit, Michigan to visit with congregations and community groups who are participating in the grassroots sustainable and just food revolution that is sprouting up everywhere.
Ellen Davis, professor at Duke Divinity, and author of Scripture, Culture and Agriculture: An Agrarian Reading of the Bible, will ground the trip in the Bible.
Jud Hendrix – a young pastor at PC(USA)’s Covenant Community Church – will help the journeyers process the experience and facilitate conversation cafes with congregations and folks along the way. We will attempt to develop a living theology as we experience the growing local agrarian renaissance.
Pilgrim Center (Green Lake) and Moon Beach (St. Germain) are two great camps that are ideal
choices for people of all ages. Each week campers gather to share, play, relax and discuss. Not to
mention, swimming, canoeing, crafting and making new friends.
Here’s what to do if you want to register for camp. Pick up a brochure outside the church office (they
should arrive soon). Fill out the registration form and mail it immediately to the proper address with
your deposit. There are extra discounts for early registration postmarked by March 15 or April
15th, so don’t delay. Information and registration forms are also available on the United Church
Camps, Inc. website www.ucci.org
If you wish to apply for financial aid, please fill out the Presbytery Campership Application (available
in the church office or on Presbytery website www.winnebagopresbytery.org/forms-and-policies/
Presbytery Forms-Camp Scholarship Form) leaving the “amount your church can pay” line blank and
give to Jennifer as soon as possible no later that April 12th. The Presbytery may provide approximately
one quarter of the cost and our church’s contribution will be determined based on the number
of applicants.
One of our strengths as Presbyterians lies in sharing what we have with
others. For more than 60 years, Presbyterians have generously shared
through One Great Hour of Sharing, an ecumenical effort to fund ministries
for disaster relief, refugee assistance, and development aid. In short, to help
people put their lives back together.
This year’s offering theme, drawn from Jesus’ last encounter with his
disciples, highlights the message he leaves them – to focus not one’s own
needs but those of others. ―Do you love me? - he asks three times. Three
times he repeats a variation of the instruction ― Feed my Sheep.
Together our gifts bring life necessities to disaster survivors throughout the
world. This is highlighted by recent earthquakes in both Haiti and Chile.
Further, our gifts help refugees build new futures and aid impoverished
communities to develop dependable livelihoods and secure sources of food
and water. We receive this offering during the Lenten season, through Palm
Sunday, March 28. Offering envelopes will be located in the pews. Our
goal this year is to raise $2,500 to help our brothers and sisters around the
world. Please give prayerfully and generously.
I am trying to get a team or two together for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids' Sake. If anyone would like to bowl, please let me know and I will get a pledge sheet. If you can't bowl but would like to pledge, please see me.
Phone me at #251-9671 (cell) or email me at nep777@charter.net with preferences for date and time. If you would like to pledge, I can normally be found at Coffee Hour between church services or in the Choir room after church.
An all you can eat breakfast will be served at First Presbyterian Church to benefit the Marcus and Jodi Anderson family. As most of you know, Liam Anderson, their 4 year old, has been very ill with bacterial meningitis so this breakfast will help with some of his medical expenses. This event will be sponsored by National Mutual Benefit Branch 695
The breakfast is $6 for adults (ages 12 and up) and $3 for children (ages 6- 11) and children who are age 5 and under are free.
Contributions will be matched by National Mutual Benefit. If you would like to help or have any questions, please call Edi or DuWayne Moore at 922- 1767.
Liam's progress can continue to be followed on his Care Pages.
To help them as they adjust to their new schedule (work, therapy, doctor's appointments, etc), we would like to coordinate some meals for the Andersons.
The 2010 Train Show is set for Saturday, March 6 (10 am to 4 pm) and Sunday March 7 (9 am to 2 pm). Please get out your old model trains and display them at this year’s show. If you would like a table for your display, please call Dennis Thompson at 923-1733 or Jim Dvorak at 923-1070. Help us to make the 2010 show the best ever!
Below, Jim and Lew talk about the John Bull Train with new member Roger Rigterink. The train pictured is a model of the John Bull, one of the
first passenger trains. It was put into service in about 1830. The locomotive was an open structure and the engineer was always getting hit with hot
cinders and smoke - it was not a pleasant job! It took about 10-12 years before a cab was installed for his protection. The tender was the box shaped
"shed" directly behind the locomotive. Wood was the fuel and was stored in the shed.
This is just one of many model trains you will see at the show.
